The Town of Davidson and American Legion Post 86 will host the annual Veteran’s Day Ceremony Thursday at 11 a.m. on the Village Green, to honor those who have served the country in the military. Keynote speaker will be Lt. Col. Shawn Cowley (retired), an Iraq war veteran and the head of Hough High School’s Junior ROTC program.
John Washam, commander of American Legion Post 86 will lead the Pledge of Allegiance and Davidson Mayor John Woods also is scheduled to make remarks, according to Steve Fraher of Davidson Parks & Recreation, who helped organize the event.
Two local school choirs are scheduled to perform: the Davidson Day Patriot Choir and Community School of Davidson choir. Members of the Daughters of the American Revolution also are scheduled to attend. Color guards in attendance will include the JROTC units of North Mecklenburg, Hopewell and Hough high schools, as well as American Legion Post 86. Kris Kawulok, Associate Pastor River’s Edge Church Davidson and chaplain to the Town of Davidson Police Department will give the invocation and benediction.
