A big crew of youth from Davidson United Methodist Church unloaded a truckload of pumpkins in the rain on Wednesday afternoon at the McKay Youth House, 260 S. Main St. The church’s annual Pumpkin Patch opens for business at noon Thursday, Sept. 30.
The pumpkin patch is open through Halloween. Hours are weekdays noon to 8 p.m. and weekends 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Besides pumpkins for Jack-o-Lanterns, the sale includes pumpkins for pies, small gourds and other items. All proceeds benefit church missions.
Meanwhile, volunteers are needed. Kristen Twitchell, the church’s director of youth ministries, is seeking young people in need of community service hours to help staff the daily sales through the end of October. Interested? Email her at ktwitchell@davidsonumc.org.
