A new Catholic High School in Huntersville is in the works, to serve the Lake Norman area. The planned Christ the King Catholic High School is holding a series of information sessions this week.
Information sessions are planned Monday in Mooresville, Tuesday in north Charlotte and Wednesday in Huntersville. Details below.
Mecklenburg Area Catholic Schools has begun recruiting students for school’s first 9th grade class, with plans to open in August 2011 in temporary quarters at 13728 Statesville Road in Huntersville. The location is south of Gilead Road, off I-77 Exit 23.
Organizers said they’re hoping to enroll a minimum of 100 students through Oct. 15. The school is open to people of all faiths interested in a private Catholic school education. Additional grades would be added yearly, and the planned school’s first graduation would be in 2014.
“Christ The King High School is a natural progression that fills a need for Mecklenburg Area Catholic Schools,” David Hains, director of communications for the Charlotte Diocese, said in a press release Monday. “This is not a start-up high school, (but) rather a system with a track record of success, with SACS accreditation and an established college preparatory curriculum.”
The school said its tuition will be “affordable,” and financial aid will be available for the 2011-12 school year.
