New farmers work with a mentor at Elma C. Lomax Incubator Farm in Cabarrus County, run by the Cabarrus County Cooperative Extension. Farmers get a plot and advice on building their skills and business. The land was donated to the county, with a restriction that it be used as a park or farm.
