Davidson’s Public Works Department has begun its annual tree pruning program, this year targeting neighborhoods west of Main Street. The program targets street-facing trees. In announcement Monday, the town said the goal is to “correct structural defects, ensure the long term health of the tree, and clear growth to permit the safe passage of pedestrians and vehicles.”
Last year nearly 1,600 trees were trimmed in the River Run and St Alban’s neighborhoods.
This year, the crews will be in the neighborhoods of Deer Park, Watson Street/Hobbs Hill, Lake Davidson Park, Davidson Bay and Spinnaker Reach.
Pruning is done by trained town staffers, following standards of International Society of Arboriculture.
