There’s a winter weather advisory for the region beginning at 10 o’clock tonight and lasting until 7 p.m. Friday. A mix of rain and freezing rain, along with sub-freezing temperatures, could have an effect on all kinds of events. We have a couple of schedule updates to report. Send us yours at editor@davidsonnews.net.
The National Weather Service says freezing rain overnight should change back to rain by late morning Friday. Don’t expect much in the way of snow or sleet – it won’t be more than one-quarter inch by noon Friday.
On Saturday, there’s another chance of snow before 1 p.m., then a chance of rain and snow. Highs should be near 40.
CALENDAR UPDATES
Souper Bowl is a go – Saturday’s Souper Bowl cook-off, a fund-raiser for Davidson Housing Coalition’s Hammers home repair program, will go on as scheduled. Festivities are 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Davidson College Chambers Building, Lilly Family Gallery. Read more about it in Michelle Miller Houck’s preview, “Taste the soup, help Hammers home repair program.”

Charlotte Writers’ Club North – A forecast of more bad weather has forced a change in the schedule for the Charlotte Writers’ Club North meeting Thursday, Feb. 4. The scheduled appearance of poet Pat Riviere-Seel has been canceled.
