A group of area residents who are hoping to start a “restorative justice” program in Davidson will have an organizational meeting Saturday, Jan. 23. The meeting is an outgrowth of a presentation on restorative justice that was given in Davidson last October.
Restorative justice is a cooperative process that seeks to involve all those with a stake in a crime to collectively identify and address harms, needs and obligations. The goal is “to heal and put things as right as possible,” according to the group. About 500 such programs exist nationwide, though none are in this area.
The meeting will be 10 to 11 a.m. at Davidson United Methodist Church, 233 S. Main St.
