Ed Kania
In memo to employees Monday, President Tom Ross announced the news. “I am extremely pleased that Ed has agreed to accept this very important position. He will have big shoes to fill with the retirement of Karen Goldstein, but I am confident, with his abilities, experience and dedication, along with our support, he will succeed,” President Ross wrote.
Mr. Kania, 47, has been the controller and director of business services. In the new job, he’ll manage the college’s $100-million annual budget and its $420-million endowment. The appointment, which came at the recommendation of a search committee, must be ratified by a vote of the board of trustees at its next meeting, Jan. 30.
In a press release Tuesday, the college said Mr. Kania will oversee 300 employees in the physical plant, business services, human resources, investments, information technology, and auxiliary services, which include the college’s bookstores, dining, Guest House and laundry.
