Looking to add a bit of local flavor to your Christmas tree this year? Two local ornaments ornaments are on sale at local shops this year. One celebrates Christmas in Davidson 2009. The other, from Davidson Historical Society, depicts The Helper Hotel, now known as The Carolina Inn, on Main Street.
Both ornaments are being sold at local shops as fund-raisers.
The Christmas in Davidson ornament commemorates and provides financial support for this year’s festival, which was held on Main Street the first week of December. The wooden ornament features a holiday Main Street scene. It costs $15 and is available at Town Hall and the following locations: Davidson Chocolate Co.; La De Daa’s; Main Street Books; Monkee’s; and The Village Store. Davidson Historical Society. For the second year, the non-profit Davidson Historical Society is selling a Davidson history-themed Christmas ornament to raise money for its programs. This year’s metal ornament depicts The Helper Hotel on North Main Street (now a Davidson College office building known as the the Carolina Inn.) Ornaments are $12 each, available at The Village Store, Main Street Books and Wooden Stone. Last year’s ornament included an image of the historic Davidson family home, Beaver Dam.
