The winter weather has local schools and event planners adjusting their schedules. Tonight’s performance of “It’s a Wonderful Life” at Armour Street Theater has been postponed to 11 a.m. Sunday. And tonight’s Davidson Local concert at Summit Coffee has been canceled.

Also, all Saturday programs of Davidson Parks & Recreation have been canceled. Details below.

Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools remained open this afternoon, but all evening events – including athletic events and practices – were canceled. Davidson Day School allowed parents to pick up students early.

DAVIDSON PARKS & RECREATION – All Town of Davidson Parks & Recreation activities scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 19, have been canceled. These include all games for the Davidson-Cornelius Youth Basketball League, and the adult watercolor painting class scheduled for the Parks & Recreation office.

ELF 5K ROAD RACE – The Elf 5k Road Race scheduled for Saturday morning, Dec. 19, has been postponed to Jan. 2. Details: http://www.mmvfd.com/

DAVIDSON COMMUNITY PLAYERS/IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE – Friday’s 8 p.m. performance of the play at Armour Street Theater has been rescheduled to 11 a.m. Sunday.

DAVIDSON WOMEN’S BASKETBALL – The game tonight at Radford, in Virginia, has been canceled because of the weather. No makeup date has been announced.

SUMMIT COFFEE/DAVIDSON LOCAL BENEFIT – A concert by the band Davidson Local, which was to be a benefit for the family of Jorge Fiscal Cruz, has been canceled, according to band members. Summit Coffee is closing early, at 7 p.m. The benefit will be rescheduled.

CHARLOTTE-MECKLENBURG SCHOOLS – Notice on the school system website says schools are on a normal schedule but evening sporting events, practices and other events are canceled.

DAVIDSON DAY SCHOOL - Allowing parents to pick up kids early, though school will remain open through the regular school day. Athletic activities to be announced. As of 1:30, the boys varsity basketball game vs. Providence Day was still on. Call the school weather hotline, 704-237-5252.

DAVIDSON FARMERS MARKET - Market organizers say the pre-holiday market is on rain or shine Saturday morning, 9 to noon, next to Town Hall.  See our news item for details.
