To the editor:
I want to thank reporter Laurie Dennis and your paper for what I feel has been fair and accurate coverage of the naming of the new William A. Hough High School. I think you and your paper represented the thoughts of all: those for the name and those opposed to the name, those who thought the process was flawed, those who did not. Your writing presented the thoughts and concerns of both sides of the issue. Believe me when I say that much of what you and other reporters of your paper wrote was most difficult to read, but all of you also presented the contrasting viewpoint. Even though those opposing the name may not agree, I respect and appreciate your objectivity.
It is the hope of my family – and, I know, of my late father – that the community now move forward under the leadership of Dr. Terri Cockerham to make William A. Hough High School the best it can be. I truly believe that with the coming months, these times will fade, and all will come together to assure the great success of this wonderful new High School. I know that the reporting of the staff of the Davidsonnews.net, and Ms. Dennis in particular, will keep us all accurately informed, no matter what we may “want” to hear!!
Dr. William A. Hough III
The writer is a physician and the son of W.A. Hough, the man the new high school in Cornelius has been named for.
