Will the mascot for William A. Hough High be the Huskies, the Hornets or the Wolves? Those are the three choices offered for a public vote on the school’s new website.
The website was updated to include both mascot and colors options the day after the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Board of Education upheld its decision to keep the Hough name for the new high school under construction on Bailey Road, set to open in August. (See our related coverage, “Hough name stays put on new high school“.)
The public has until Wednesday, Dec. 16 to vote on a Hough High mascot.
“We are under a tight deadline to get the name of the mascot to the CMS athletic department so that uniforms can be ordered to arrive on time,” says the website, which can be found at http://pages.cms.k12.nc.us/williamhough/
The website also offers the following three color choices:
- black/silver/white
- black/green/white
- green/gold/white
Votes can be submitted by emailing Terry Barbee (t.barbee@cms.k12.nc.us), the senior administrative assistant for William A. Hough High, or by calling the North Learning Community office at 980-344-0511.
According to the website, the three finalists for mascots and colors were based on recommendations “from the four feeder schools (Bailey Middle, Bradley Middle, Hopewell High and North Meck High) as well as community input.”
