Firefighters on Monday helped free a woman who was trapped in a stalled elevator in Davidson College’s Dana science building, off Concord Road. Elsewhere, they responded to cooking-related smoke alarms this week at both the Davidson United Methodist Church and the offices above the CVS pharmacy. Firefighters also were out on Main Street at last weekend’s Christmas in Davidson and North Mecklenburg Christmas Parade events. Those and other fire and emergency calls below.

THURSDAY, DEC. 3, 3:41 p.m., Bailey Middle School, 11900 Bailey Road, Cornelius – fire alarm, Davidson firefighters were dispatched and then canceled en route.
THURSDAY, DEC. 3, 5:49 p.m., downtown Davidson – Firefighters were dispatched for public service on Main Street during Christmas in Davidson.
FRIDAY, DEC. 4, 5:51 p.m., downtown Davidson – Firefighters were dispatched for public service on Main Street during Christmas in Davidson.
SATURDAY, DEC. 5, 10:16 a.m., North Main Street – Firefighters participated in 27th North Mecklenburg Christmas Parade.
SATURDAY, DEC. 5, 5:49 p.m., downtown Davidson – Firefighters were dispatched for public service on Main Street during Christmas in Davidson.
MONDAY, DEC. 7, 9:57 a.m., Shearer Road – Assisted emergency medical services crew on a medical call, helping to prepare patient for transport to the hospital.
MONDAY, DEC. 7, 2:50 p.m., Davidson College Dana science building, 217 Concord Road – Firefighters helped free a woman trapped in an elevator, between the second and third floors of the college building. They used elevator keys and a bar to get the door open. The woman was unhurt.
WEDNESDAY, DEC. 9, 11 a.m., Davidson United Methodist Church, South Main St. – Fire alarm. Baking cookies in the church’s day care center triggered a smoke alarm. No fire or damages.
THURSDAY, DEC. 10, 1:15 p.m., CVS, 127 S. Main St. – Davidson and Cornelius-Lemley firefighters responded to a smoke alarm triggered by a small cooking fire in an upstairs office above the store. No damage or injuries were reported.
