Mayor John Woods was sworn in for a second term and the rest of theĀ 2009-11 Davidson Town Board took the oath of office at the monthly Town Board meeting Tuesday night. The brief meeting also included the election of Laurie Venzon – top vote getter in the Nov. 3 election – as mayor pro tempore, or pro tem, who fills in temporarily if the mayor is absent.
Newcomers Tim Dreffer and Connie Wessner took seats at the board platform, joining re-elected incumbents Ms. Venzon, Brian Jenest and Margo Williams.
The board also took time to honor outgoing commissioners Evan Webster and Bill Johnson, neither of whom sought re-election.
Also at Tuesday’s 30-minute meeting:
- 14-year Davidson police officer Scott Searcy was sworn in as the department’s newest sergeant.
- The board honored Sterling Martin, who stepped down as chair of the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board after 20 years’ service to the town.
