Kitty Claudia Hutcherson Bost of Cornelius died Monday, Nov. 30, 2009, at Levine & Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville. She was 74 and had battled cancer for six years.
Born May 16, 1935 in Nashville, Tenn., she was the daughter of Claude Oren Hutcherson and Edith Hayes Brooks Hutcherson, who preceded her in death. She was a 1953 graduate of Baker High School in Columbus, Ga., and attended Auburn University.
She was employed as a secretary at Kendrick Memorial Baptist Church in Columbus where she met her soldier husband, Edward B. Bost, who was stationed at Fort Benning. During their 53 years of marriage they lived in Alaska, Huntersville, Charlotte, Fort Mill, S.C., and Puerto Rico. For the last 22 years they have made their home in Huntersville and Cornelius.
Claudia loved to sing, and sang in the choir at all the churches she attended, and sang alto in the Bost Quartet. She was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church and the Don Bridger Sunday School Class.
She was a volunteer for several service organizations during her lifetime. She will always be fondly remembered by her warm heart and beautiful sweet smile.
In addition to her husband she is survived by her daughter, Miriam Bost Tallon and her husband Joe of Goose Creek, S.C., her son Mark Edward Bost and his wife Alice of Huntersville, grandchildren Ashley Tallon (and her fiancé Stewart Fenters), Claudia Elizabeth Tallon, Rebecca Bost Kevin Edward Bost. She is also survived by her husband’s brothers and sisters who she claimed as her own, Yvonne Bost Byers, John Bost and his wife Billie, Joe Bost and his wife Tommie Ann, Jane Bost Putnam, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Raymer Funeral Home in Huntersville on Wednesday, Dec. 2, from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Cornelius.
