Nearly 2,000 people showed up at Birkdale Village in Huntersville Saturday at 4:30 p.m. for a “flash mob” and group dance. The event was organized to coincide with Birkdale’s annual Christmas tree-lighting and came with its own Facebook page and an advance YouTube video teaching participants a special hip-hop dance for the event.  The event kicked off the shopping season at Birkdale.

Organizers included team-building consultant Terry Vaughan. They launched their Facebook page and sent press releases to promote the event at the beginning of November.
