Despite Saturday’s sunny weather, it was a sparse crowd on the Village Green Saturday for the Davidson Family Reunion, which was a finale for the 2009 Davidson Reads townwide reading program.
A handful of kids made crafts with the help of volunteers from the Community Arts Project. And a few people got up and learned Israeli dances with the help of Lisa Bugaslaw, of Catawba College.
Shaye Creamer of The Egg @ Davidson took the top prize in a pie-baking contest, for her Pumpkin Streusel. Second place went to Alice Pearce for her Chocolate Crustless Pie. And Lisa and Jackie Jewel were third with a Sweet Potato Curry Pie. Mary Jane Leach, of the Davidson Farmers Market, town Commissioner Laurie Venzon and Eric Murphy of M.J.’s Sugar Shack ranked the entries.
The event was sponsored by DavidsonReads, Davidson Parks & Recreation, the Town of Davidson, Davidson public library branch and Main Street Books.
