An altercation at a construction site on Westmoreland Road last week led to
assault charges against a construction work who allegedly struck three co-workers.
Police also released a report about an Oct. 28 disturbance at a home in the Summer’s Walk neighborhood, where a domestic dispute resulted in assault charges, and led to discovery of a stolen handgun.
Meanwhile, police were out in force last week enforcing the speed limit on Griffith Street, among other places. Patrols issued 15 speeding tickets on the main route between downtown and I-77. And they’re continuing to watch for drivers ignoring stop signs on Jetton Street.
CONSTRUCTION SITE INCIDENT
Police charged 37-year-old Brian Scott Furgeson with three counts of assault after an incident last Thursday, Nov. 5, at a construction site on Westmoreland Road, off Davidson-Concord Road.
Three co-workers, ages 30, 30 and 22 told police the man had struck them.

WEDNESDAY, OCT. 28, 2:38 p.m., Summers Walk Blvd. – Police responded to a report of domestic violence with a gun, and found a man and woman with injuries that appeared to be from a fight. Both reported they had been assaulted by the other. The woman was charged with simple assault, the man with assault on a female and assault by pointing a gun. Police later discovered the handgun had been stolen. The investigation is continuing.
SUNDAY, NOV. 1, 200 block of North Main Street – Police stopped a 59-year-old driver and charged him with driving while his license was revoked.
THURSDAY, NOV. 5, 10:05 a.m., Westmoreland Farm Road – Davidson police responded to a report of an assault at a construction site. One construction worker struck three other construction workers. A 37-year-old suspect was charged with three counts of assault. A power tool worth $300 was damaged.
THURSDAY, NOV. 5, 4:30 p.m. – A Cathey Street resident came to the police department to report and filed a report of a lost or stolen handgun. The weapon was described as a Walther P22, valued at $400. She said the weapon was lost or stolen sometime between Jan. 3 and Nov. 5.
TUESDAY, NOV. 10, 10:12 a.m., 600 block of Walnut Street – A resident told police she left her home under construction around 6:15 p.m. on Monday. When she returned Tuesday at 8:30 a.m., she discovered someone had forced open the front door and removed a microwave. The appliance was valued at $350, and damage to a door was put at $350.
WEDNESDAY, NOV. 11, 12:14 p.m., East Rocky River Road at Shearer Road – A 17-year-old Shearer Road resident told police he was headed east on East Rocky River when he encountered a truck crossing the center line. He hit the brakes to avoid the other vehicle and lost control of his car. He veered left off the road and struck a tree. He was not seriously injured.
