Davidson College’s women’s soccer team beat College of Charleston, 1-0, in double overtime Sunday to win the Southern Conference title and advance to the NCAA tournament. Also Sunday, the volleyball team defeated Citadel, 3-1. In Sunday’s soccer final, Amanda Flink scored the winning goal on a header in the second overtime to give the Cats the win.
It was the eighth straight for the streaking Wildcats, who are now 12-9-1 on the season. The victory qualified Davidson for the NCAA tournament. Pairings will be announced tonight (Monday) at 9.
VOLLEYBALL VICTORY
Sarahbeth Peele had 20 kills to help lead the volleyball team to a 3-1 victory at The Citadel, in Charleston. The win raised the Cats’ record to 8-22 overall, 5-9 in the conference. The Wildcats end their season this week with home matches Tuesday at 6 p.m. against Georgia Southern and Saturday at 4 p.m. vs. Chattanooga.
