KIDS VOTE THIS AFTERNOON
Kids in grades K-12 have a chance to experience this year’s local elections in Mecklenburg County through Kids Voting. More than 100 polling places in Charlotte and the six Mecklenburg Countuy towns will have Kids Voting polls open from 3 to 7:30 p.m.
Elementary school students may vote for mayor of Charlotte, Cornelius, Davidson, Huntersville, Matthews, Mint Hill or Pineville. Middle and high school students may vote for mayor of Charlotte or towns, plus school board and city or town council. While results of the student vote are not official, the votes are counted and reported. Results will be posted on the Kids Voting website (www.kidsvoting.org), sent to schools and reported to the media. Last year, 75,000 Mecklenburg students experienced Election 2008.
Some students are working at polling places for community service.
