Jenny Falcone, a junior at Davidson Day School, won the N.C. Independent Schools state tennis 1A championship Sunday.
Falcone defeated Katy Cananda of Elon in straight sets of 6-0, 6-0. The tournament was held at Barton College in Wilson.
The state championship title caps off an impressive season for Falcone, a Davidson resident. She is ranked No. 59 in the country for girls 18-under, did not lose a set the entire season and finished with a game record of 144 wins to 4 losses.
Falcone also paired up with sophomore Krysta Chirino to place second in the state in doubles.
The Davidson Day tennis team, coached by Devin Gracely, finished fifth in the 1A championships competition. The Patriots concluded their season with a 4-4 record.

Congratulations!! That is quite an accomplishment. Even though you live here in town I hope you will consider Davidson College. I had 2 grandsons who attended and they did a good job of getting “lost” over on campus.
