As renovations continue at the future home of Our Town Cinemas off Griffith Street, the theater’s developer is showing off drawings that offer a glimpse at the elevated, cabaret-style seating inside the cinema’s four screening rooms.
The Charlotte-based Our Town Cinemas Davidson is spending about $273,000 to turn the formerly vacant storefronts in Sadler Square shopping center into a small, first-run theater.
A spokeswoman said last week the developer hopes to open the new theater “toward the end of 2009, (or at the) latest January 2010.”
Plans call for four auditoriums in the 9,750 square foot space – two with 86 seats each and two with 39 seats each. Seating would be a mix of fixed seats and bistro tables and chairs. Design and renovation of the theater space is being handled by Bob Lauer of ADW Architects and Kosta and Dino Pappas, of Vrettos Pappas Consulting Engineers. The contractor is Proline Construction.
