Lake Norman Kiwanis Club press release
Cornelius, NC (October 5, 2009) – The Lake Norman Kiwanis Club recently held the organization’s Annual Awards and Installation Banquet at the Aquesta Bank Community Room in Cornelius. John P. Miner, Financial Advisor with Raymond James & Associates, Inc. addressed the club as the outgoing president. Miner touched on many of the projects that the club worked on during the year and the impact the organization made on the lives of those who need a helping hand and Children – the focus of the Kiwanis Club.

Jeff Moody, Vice President and Commercial Lender at Aquesta Bank, was sworn in as the 2009-2010 president. Gerald Worrell, Financial Representative with Northwestern Mutual, was named president – elect. Tim Stein of Maestro Travel in Huntersville will serve as the club’s new Chief Financial Officer. Other officers include Arlene Arciero (Keller Williams) Vice President, Martha Riggins (Fifth Third Bank) Treasurer, and Brenda Carsey (Keller Williams) Secretary.

Arlene Arciero, a Board Member in 2008-2009, was selected Kiwanian of the Year by a vote of the club’s membership. Arciero was very involved in the Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast, Big Day at the Lake, delivering Turkey Dinners during the holiday season, working on the Christmas in Davidson project as well as coordinating club speakers. Arciero also serves on the United Way Cabinet as well as the Lake Norman Chamber Board of Directors.

President Jeff Moody laid out his vision for the next year and thanked the club members for their hard work serving the community. “I have always been impressed by the projects this club undertakes to make a difference in our community,” stated Moody. “Whether it’s working on a new home for Habitat or putting in a few volunteer hours at the Free Medical Clinic. We make a difference. You simply can’t put a price tag on the expression of gratitude a family taking ownership of a new Habitat home has or the look on the face of that single parent receiving a turkey dinner at Thanksgiving when they were expecting little supper at all. It makes everything we do worthwhile!”

The Lake Norman Kiwanis Club is a service organization that meets every Thursday at 7:30 a.m. at the Acropolis Restaurant in Cornelius. For more information on the club call Bill Russell at (704) 892-1922 or see the chapter’s website at www.lknkiwanis.org.
