The Environmental Sustainability Committee working on the new town comprehensive plan is inviting residents to join a cleanup this Saturday morning, Oct. 3, along the South Prong of the Rocky River in Davidson. The half-day effort coincides with the Big Sweep, which will include cleanups in Mecklenburg and all 100 counties statewide. The Big Sweep is being coordinated locally by Mecklenburg County Water Quality.

Organizers say all are welcome to help out at the Davidson cleanup, which runs 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Volunteers 14 and under should be accompanied by an adult. They’ll meet at Davidson Elementary School, 635 South St.
Wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty, sturdy boots or shoes, a hat and sunscreen. Mecklenburg County will provide gloves, bags and other supplies.
