An assailant with a knife robbed a shopper in the parking lot outside the Food Lion grocery store on North Main Street in Cornelius Monday morning, according to a Cornelius Police Department incident report. The unidentified suspect has not been caught.
According to the police report, an unidentified person approached a 21-year-old white Cornelius woman from behind in the parking lot around 10:48 a.m. Monday. She told police the person put a knife to the right side of her stomach and took $14 cash.
The woman was taken to Lake Norman Regional Medical Center in Mooresville by a Medic ambulance with possible internal injuries. No further information was available about the type or seriousness of her injuries.
The report does not provide a description or say whether the assailant was male or female. It says the person was unrelated to the victim.
Cornelius police provided the incident report, but said they were unavailable to answer questions. The report said the case remains under investigation.
