More than 70 jugglers from Washington, D.C., to Atlanta, as well as the Lake Norman area, gathered in Davidson today (Saturday, Sept. 5) for the 19th Annual Hurricane Hugo Juggling Festival. The event is hosted by Davidson College and the Lake Norman Jugglers.
Dozens of jugglers and would-be jugglers swarmed the Village Green Saturday morning for public demonstrations and hands-on lessons. At 3 p.m., the assembled jugglers were scheduled to be at the Davidson College Alvarez College Union for “juggling games,” according to organizer Bill Giduz.
Tonight at 7 in union, the public is invited to watch juggling and other “New Vaudeville” acts in the annual Family Vaudeville Extravaganza. Afterwards, gather in the amphitheater outside the union for a demonstration of fire juggling.
The Hurricane Hugo Juggling Festival continues with more juggling Sunday from 1 to 3 at the college union, then 3 to 5 p.m. on the Village Green, where the Lake Norman Jugglers hold their weekly sessions.
