The Design Review Board on Wednesday postponed until its August meeting a decision on a request by Artisan Builders to demolish a building next to Town Hall – at 212 S. Main St. – to make way for a multistory mixed-use building.

Town planner Parviz Moosavi said some members of the board wanted to wait until after Artisan presents its plans for the site at a public planning workshop next Thursday, July 30. The board will take up the issue – technically a “certificate of appropriateness” to demolish the building – at its Aug. 19 meeting.

“Some board members didn’t feel comfortable approving a certificate of appropriateness without know what is going in there,” Mr. Moosavi said.
