Marian Pusack

Marian Lou Preston Pusack, 90, of Davidson, died Monday, July 20, 2009 at The Pines in Davidson. She was the wife of George W. Pusack, with whom she lived at The Pines at Davidson. A memorial service will be scheduled later at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church.

She was born on Nov. 2, 1918 in Ames, Iowa, to the late Perry Judson Preston and Edna Arthur Preston.

Besides her husband George, to whom she was married 67 years, Mrs. Pusack is survived by a son, William John Pusack and wife Priscilla of Norwalk, Conn.; daughter, Ann Wilt and husband Nelson of O’Fallon, Ill.; brother, Donald Preston and wife LaDonna of Sioux City, Iowa; grandchildren, Timothy, Anna and Elizabeth Pusack. She was preceded in death by her son, James Preston Pusack; brother, Joe; sister, Madeline Peterson; and grandson, 1st Lt. John Wilt.

For many years while raising her family, Mrs. Pusack worked as a professional librarian. In 1973, she retired in order to move to London, England with her husband, an executive with Mobil Oil Corp. In 1980, they moved to Melbourne, Australia for 5 years before retiring to the Charlotte area- first in River Hills, Clover, S.C., and then Davidson. Throughout this period she continued her love of quiltmaking and she especially loved her many opportunities for travel throughout the world.

A memorial service will be held at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in Davidson at a later date.
