Former Davidson standout-turned-NBA-rookie Stephen Curry got a good review from coach Don Nelson after his first game in a Golden State Warriors’ uniform at a summer league game in Las Vegas Friday. The Las Vegas Sun reports that Mr. Curry was knocked around as Houston opponents tried “to get in his head,” and wound up with a bloody nose not long after the game started.
Meanwhile, the San Francisco Chronicle‘s SFGate website reported in an item titled “Curry era begins” that Mr. Curry got the biggest reaction from the crowd, including one standing ovation.
Mr. Curry was picked 7th in last month’s NBA draft, and played his first game – a summer league contest at Cox Pavilion in Las Vegas.
In Friday’s game, he scored 16 points, but also picked up 4 fouls as the Houston Rockets defeated the Warriors, 73-69.
“I like everything about him,” reporter Ryan Green for the Sun quotes Mr. Nelson as saying. “There isn’t anything I don’t like about him. He’s gonna be a very fine player, I think.”
