Ethel Truscott Rhodes died Thursday, July 9, 2009, at The Pines at Davidson. She was 86.
A memorial service is planned Monday, July 13, at 3 p.m. at Davidson College Presbyterian Church, to be followed by a reception at the Congregation House.
Mrs. Rhodes was the widow of Davidson College religion professor Daniel D. Rhodes, who died in 2005. The couple had moved to town in 1960 when he joined the Davidson faculty.
She is survived by children Elaine Rhodes, Robin Rhodes, and Noëlle Scott as well as her grandchildren. She was predeceased by her eldest son, Truscott Rhodes.
She had been a DCPC member since 1960, served on DCPC’s Session and Diaconate, and was a beloved Bible study leader for children and adults. She lived at The Pines at Davidson retirement community.
After Monday’s service, friends are invited to gather at Noelle’s and Edward’s home at 7 p.m. A visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday morning in The Pines at Davidson.
Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, Mooresville, is serving the Rhodes family.
