State Rep. Thom Tillis, whose district includes Davidson, will hold a town hall meeting today (Thursday) at 7 p.m. at Cornelius Town Hall, on Catawba Avenue. He will discuss Gov. Beverly Perdue’s proposal for tax increases that she says would help avoid big cuts in government services.
Gov. Perdue is a Democrat. Rep. Tillis, of Cornelius, is a Republican and opposes the governor’s plan. At tonight’s meeting, he’ll offer a summary of the plan and answer questions.
In an email this week he urged supporters to attend tonight’s meeting. “I need your help to fight wasteful spending and unfair and unnecessary taxes. I hope you will invest an hour of your time to understand what is at stake,” he wrote.
More about the meeting is available on Rep. Tillis’s website.
