Paul Green of Davidson died June 16, 2009, at the VA Medical Center in Salisbury. He was 79. A memorial service and burial in the National Cemetery in Salisbury are planned Monday.

Born March 23, 1930, in Haywood County, he was a son of the late Vance and Minnie Rathbone Green.  Mr. Green served his country in the US Navy during the Korean War from 1948 to 1952.  He retired from Eckerd Drugs. 

He is survived by his daughters, Paula Petty and Kathy Hanna of Cornelius, NC, Pam Scott of Indian Trail, NC; granddaughter, Dana Hamdan; grandsons, Brandon, Darin and Jason Scott; 5 great grandchildren; brothers, Jim Green of Waynesville, NC and Charles Green of Newport News, VA.

Mr. Green’s family said: “We are grateful for Paul’s life, his love and devotion to his family, his passion for fishing and wood carving, his sense of humor and that we had many great years with him.  We will miss his homemade biscuits and gravy, because nobody can make them like he did.  His memory will live on in our hearts forever.”

A memorial service is planned Monday, June 22, at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Covenant Church in Cornelius. Final disposition will be at 2 p.m. at the National Cemetery in Salisbury.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Friends of NC State Veterans Home, Attn: Wayne Swiers, P.O. Box 599, Salisbury NC  28145, Memo Paul Green.

The family expresses deep appreciation to the staff and volunteers at the NC Veterans Home in Salisbury, NC and the Hospice staff of Rowan County for all who took special care of him this past year, words cannot express how grateful we are to each of you.
