The Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce‘s Friday Focus program this week will examine the need for a magistrate in north Mecklenburg to handle minor court matters. The session is 8-9:30 a.m. at the chamber, 19900 W. Catawba Ave., Cornelius.
Law enforcement agencies from Cornelius, Davidson, and Huntersville along with local elected officials and service organizations such as United Family Services and the Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce have been pushing for a magistrate.
Friday’s meeting will bring an update on the county magistrate program from Billy Wilson, of Mecklenburg County. Representatives of United Family Services and local policed departments also will attend.
