Deaths: Ginny Williamson

Virginia “Ginny” Colliver Williamson died April 14, 2009. She was 91. She was a longtime member of Davidson College Presbyterian Church and had served on the Session of the church. She lived at The Pines at Davidson.
A memorial service is scheduled Wednesday, April 15, at 3 p.m. in DCPC’s Lingle Chapel. A reception will follow in the parlor.
Ginny was was born Jan. 31, 1918, in Carlisle, Ky. She graduated from the Assembly’s Training School in Richmond, Va., and worked as a director of Christian education until her marriage in 1943.
She was married to Dr. William W. Williamson Sr., a Presbyterian minister, serving churches in Virginia, Tennessee, Kentucky, North Carolina and Georgia. Upon her husband’s death in 1978, she moved to the Pines at Davidson.
Survivors include her children, Dr. William W. Williamson Jr. and his wife Nancy, Dr. Charles C. Williamson and his wife Barbara, Virginia W. Almand and her husband Bryan; grandchildren, Sara Sutphin and her husband Mike, Ginny Pollack and her husband Dave, Liz Cogswell and her husband Eric, Chaz Williamson and his wife Lisa; and Will Almand; and several great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Willis Harris of Bradenton, Fla., and Mrs. John Williams of Minden, Ariz.
A private family burial will be Thursday, April 16 in Green Hill Cemetery in Danville, Va.
Memorial donations may be sent to The Pines Resident Support Fund, 400 Avinger Lane, Davidson, N.C. 28036, or to the charity of your choice.
