Construction work on the Stowe Building, a mixed-use project downtown, will require the closing of South Street between Main and Cathey streets on Friday, April 10, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. That’s the section of South Street that runs past Davidson IB Middle School.
An advisory from Police Chief Jeanne Miller says the closure is needed because of “a special stage of construction” that involves pouring concrete floors at the building.
“This is by far the largest logistical operation that will be conducted during the construction. There will be a pump truck on site and +/- 30 concrete trucks coming throughout the day to provide the concrete that will be pumped to the 2nd and 3rd floors of the building,” Chief Miller said.
Proper detour signage will be in place.
