Police received a series of phone calls Sunday afternoon around 5:15 p.m. after a hot-air balloon descended rapidly and made a surprise landing in the back yard of a building near Beaty and North Main streets.
Police responded to the scene after the calls, but found nobody hurt and no damages.
The balloon, operated by Balloon Hollow of Mooresville, landed in the back yard of a vacant building at 800 Beaty St., near the intersection with North Main Street.
A passenger in the balloon said she was nervous as the craft came in low over trees and the vacant, grey-shingled building. But the Balloon Hollow operator told DavidsonNews.net: “It was not a crash. That was what we call a normal landing.”
