Overnight snowfall brings school closings, delays

Snow began falling in Davidson before midnight Tuesday and by the time it stopped overnight it had reached several inches in places. Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools are closed and it’s an optional teacher work day. Employees were told to arrive two hours late. No makeup day has been set.

Davidson Day School said it will be closed for the day as well. Children’s Community School announced a 2-hour delay at 6 a.m., but later decided to close for the day.

It was 21 degrees at 6 a.m. in Davidson. The National Weather Service has a winter weather advisory in effect until 9 a.m. Light snow showers were possible early this morning. Roads could be icy and drivers were warned to take care at least through mid-morning.
