Snow closes Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools will be closed today, Tuesday, Jan. 20, because of the snow and cold temperatures. School officials declared a Code A/Optional Teacher Workday; teachers and staff have the option of reporting at 9 a.m. Announcement on the CMS website. District officials said they will make an unspecified recommendation to the school board for when the make-up day will be.
Most area private and charter schools also will be closed today, including Davidson Day, Woodlawn School and Children’s Community School.
CANCELLATIONS
The Town of Davidson said tonight’s Greenways, Trails and Bikeways meeting at Town Hall is cancelled.

FORECAST
The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning for the region. At 7 a.m., it was 26 degrees with light snow in some areas. Today’s forecast calls for a continued chance of snow showers through about 1 p.m. Then it will be mostly cloudy and windy with a high around 33. (See the National Weather Service forecast.)
