Davidson Community Players’ youth theater group the Connie Company and Davidson College’s Department of Theatre will present “Cinderella,” their 2009 production for children and families, Jan. 23-25 in the college’s new Cunningham Theatre Center Barber Theatre.
Davidson students will play all the roles in the colorful, costumed production. Melissa Ohlman-Roberge directs the play as it was interpreted by the late Rupert T. Barber Jr. Proceeds from the performances will benefit the college’s Rupert Barber Scholarship and the North Carolina Theatre Conference’s Constance Welsh Memorial Scholarship.
Performances will be Friday, Jan. 23, at 4:30 and 7 p.m.; Saturday, Jan. 24, at 10 a.m., 2:30 p.m., and 4:30 p.m.; and Sunday, Jan. 25, at 12:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m., and 4:30 p.m.
Tickets are $7 general admission, and may be reserved from 9 a.m. to noon beginning Friday, Jan. 16, by calling 704-892-7918. Reservations are strongly encouraged.
STUDENT CAST
The lead role of Cinderella is played by Davidson sophomore Rebecca Goudarzi. Her fairy Godmother is played by senior Alea Skwara, and her handsome prince is junior Ben Bashinski.
Junior Maret Seitz and junior Matt Baum play the roles of the wicked stepsisters, and freshman Madison Rigger is the evil stepmother. The narrator for the performance is senior Suzanne Lenz. Also appearing are first year students William Koster, Chipper Jones, Katie Fahy, and sophomore Megan Endersby.
Theater ushers needed
The Connie Co., Davidson Community Players’ childrens’ theater group, needs volunteers ushers for upcoming performances of “Cinderella” at Davidson College’s Barber Theatre, in the Cunningham Theatre Center. Volunteers will need to come 45 minutes early for these shows: Saturday, January 24, 4:30; Sunday, January 25 at 12:30, 2:30 and 4:30.
