Russell Mase
Russell Mase is a retired Presbyterian minister who lives in Davidson. He tells a touching story about caroling on a Christmas Eve many years ago. We first heard him tell this story at a holiday gathering of Davidson’s Centennial Book Club in 2007. It’s such a heart-warming tale that we persuaded him to record it for DavidsonNews.net for Christmas 2008. Many thanks to Theresa Woody, a Davidson pianist and teacher, who plays original arrangements of two familiar carols to accompany the story. (Click the play button to start. That’s a lovely and timely story. Thanks for sharing it Russell and David!
Thank you for the honesty and tenderness in this story. Russell’s decision to respond gingerly despite being told otherwise shows his wisdom and compassion. Theresa’s piano was the perfect foil for such a poignant story. Great idea to do this, David…a gift and reminder to all of us.

This is such a wonderful story! I listened to it again and again.
Fabulous story! I didn’t get to hear it until a few days after Christmas but it’s a story to remember all year! Thank you, Russell, for sharing.
