Davidson Community Players and its Connie Co. children’s theater group are now accepting registration for its 2009 series of theater classes and workshops for kids and teens. Classes include “Scene Study” and “Audition and Monologue Technique” for middle and high school students, classes for pre-schoolers and home schoolers.
The classes are possible in part because of Davidson Community Players’ recent move into a new home, the Armour Street Theatre. With that move, the company plans to offer year-round, “intimate and affordable” theater classes for for preschoolers through high school students.
Participants will study with theatre professionals in an authentic theater environment. Classes for preschoolers and young elementary students will be geared toward team building, self-confidence and a basic understanding of theater arts through creative dramatics and storytelling. Classes for teens and tweens will focus on specific improvisation, rehearsal and performance skills.
Most classes, workshops and productions will be held at the Armour Street Theatre, 307 Armour Street. Full and partial scholarships and sibling discounts available.
