A scene from a past Christmas in Davidson (Bill Giduz photo)
As many as 20,000 people are expected in town over the next three nights at Christmas in Davidson 2008. The festival opens with a ceremony on the Village Green on Main Street tonight (Thursday) at 6 p.m. and organizers at Downtown Davidson Inc. have lined up a lively schedule of entertainment from 6-9 p.m. (See schedule below.) The fun continues Friday and Saturday nights, also from 6-9.
A few highlights you won’t want to miss: Santa arrives by fire engine tonight at 6:30 and then will be in the Davidson Public Library community room nightly. As always, Mrs. Claus will be at Knox Realty. Gospel singing can be heard at Raeford’s Barber Shop. Davidson United Methodist Church has a live nativity scene next to the chapel and McKay Youth House on South Main Street. Hay rides are available nightly as well (from the Green) as are horse-drawn carriages (at Town Hall). For a complete listing of activities, download the schedule on the Downtown Davidson website.
Don’t forget: the festival continues in the town’s other business districts, too. Trolleys will run between downtown, South Main and the Exit 30 area all night.
McIntosh Law Firm of Davidson is the presenting sponsor of this year’s Christmas in Davidson.

If you’ve not done so already, please say a big thank you to everyone involved in pulling off another successful Christmas in Davidson. There is so much work that has to be done behind the scenes by Public Works, Parks & Rec, Police, Fire and DDI, much of which we take for granted. So if you see one of these hard working, selfless folks on the street, just say thanks!
Couldn’t agree more. As a newcomer to the area my wife and I have been amazed at all this small town does. Makes the town a joy to live in. To everyone involved – Thank you!
Now, if we could just get rid of the generators on the green so that we can actually hear the music…
