SAVINGS WEBSITE
A new website called LKN Savings (LKNSavings.com) launched Nov. 1 to promote local businesses in the Davidson, Cornelius, Huntersville, Mooresville area by offering free ads linked to coupons or other money-saving promotions.
The site was started by Jennifer Cochrane and Lori Frascati, stay-at-home moms who were looking for a way to help fellow consumers find savings and shop locally. Ads on the site offer deals at local stores and even professional services such as counselors and tax accountants, Ms. Cochrane said.
The site is part of a for-profit business, The Savings Expo LLC. Ms. Cochrane said the site eventually hopes to make money by obtaining corporate sponsors and paid banner advertisements. But she said the pair does not want to let paid advertising push aside local businesses’ free listings. “The idea is to promote local shopping. … It’s not just to get ad revenue,” Ms. Cochrane said.
