Davidson-based classical public radio station WDAV-FM will resume its fall on-air fund-raising campaign next week, after halting the campaign a month ago amid a flurry of bad economic news. The campaign is set to resume Thursday, Nov. 13, and run through the following Tuesday, or until it reaches its target, a spokeswoman said.

The Davidson College-owned station is at 89.9 FM. Station officials stopped the on-air pledge drive on Oct. 7.

“Suspending an on-air campaign is an extremely risky move for any public broadcaster,” Benjamin K. Roe, WDAV’s general manager, said in a press release late Thursday. “But we felt it was the right thing to do for a community that needed us to do what we do best: provide top-quality, around-the-clock classical music. Now, with the election behind us and a more stabilized economic environment in the region, we’re ready to pick up where we left off and raise the funds that are essential for us.”

WDAV said it has $106,500 left to raise in its Celebration 2008 On-Air Membership Drive, as it tries for $200,000 total.
