Jon Meacham, editor of Newsweek magazine, will be a Davidson College on Monday, Nov. 10, to give a free public lecture titled “Decision 2008: How it Happened and What’s Ahead.” Mr. Meacham’s talk, which is this year’s Wearn Lecture, begins at 8 p.m. in Duke Family Performance Hall.

The talk will be presented as the college’s annual Wearn Lecture. There is no charge to attend, but tickets are required. They may be picked up at the Davidson College Union box office weekdays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., or at the door 30 minutes before the lecture.

Mr. Meacham is one of the most respected voices in contemporary American journalism. In addition to his editorial duties, he continues to write extended, thoughtful pieces for Newsweek and to produce his own historical scholarship. His publications include, “Franklin and Winston: An Intimate Portrait of an Epic Friendship” and “American Gospel: God, the Founding Fathers, and the Making of a Nation.” A new book, ” American Lion: Andrew Jackson in the White House,” goes on sale the day of Mr. Meacham’s visit to Davidson. Copies will be available for purchase and signing after the lecture.
