Artist and Davidson College art professor Herb Jackson is among a half-dozen people who were honored Monday with Arts & Science Council lifetime achievement awards. The awards recognize “creative individuals” in science, literature, history, design, visual and performing arts. The awards ceremony will air tonight (Wednesday, Oct. 8 ) at 8 o’clock on public TV station WTVI, Channel 42.
Mr. Jackson is a widely-collected painter and a longtime and respected educator. He was honored along with dancers Patricia McBride and Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux, historian and journalist Steve Crump, musician Arthur Smith and scientist Francis Robicsek.
