Misenheimer

Davidson police Sgt. Scott Misenheimer’s home near Salisbury was damaged in a fire last week. But he has a little something to be happy about this week: He is among a group of police officers and public safety volunteers from area towns to be honored Thursday at a Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce lunch in Huntersville.

The chamber is recognizing officers from Cornelius, Davidson, Huntersville and Davidson College and members of North Meck Rescue and local fire departments.

FIRE DAMAGE

Sgt. Misenheimer is a 20-year veteran of the Davidson Police Department, and well-known around town.

Last Thursday during the day, a small electrical fire resulted in smoke and water damage and roof damage at his home in Rowan County. “He and his family are in temporary housing. It’s going to take 4 to 5 months to get it fixed,” Davidson Police Chief Jeanne Miller said.

Nobody was hurt, and Sgt. Misenheimer was able to get his family and his dog, Gracie, out of the home. He also saved some family photo albums. But many other possessions are smoke- or water-damaged, Chief Miller said.

Anyone interested in helping out Sgt. Misenheimer and family may contact Chief Miller or Sgt. Barney Poole at 704-892-5131.

Scott is the kind of public servant that deserves special recogntion. I just hope that during this time of need that the people of Davidson can join together to show Scott and his family how much we value someone like him. I plan on being at the head of the line.

Ditto…thanks Gordon. I am in line, right behind you. Many folks may not know that it is Scott who makes sure that our Davidson citizens in need get not only a turkey dinner at Thanksgiving but also gifts under the Angel Tree at Christmas…not to mention the bicycle program for kids. He is the epitome of “community policing” and we are blessed to have him here in Davidson as a kinder, gentler face of law enforcement.
