Lake Norman Jewish Congregation will have its first Junior Congregation Youth Shabbat on Saturday, Sept. 6, at 10 a.m. at Fair View United Methodist Church, N.C. 115 across from Mount Mourne Elementary School. Rabbi Michael Shields and Rachel Jarman, the congregation’s Institute for Southern Jewish Life fellow, will lead this first Shabbat morning experience for religious school families.
The service will include songs, Shabbat games, and learning, and give families a chance to meet Ms. Jarman and the congregation’s religious school teachers.
Lake Norman Jewish Congregation’s Sunday Religious School starts Sept. 14, with classes for children 3 years to B’nai Mitzvah age.
Ms. Jarman will visit the Lake Norman Jewish Congregation Sept. 4-6 for the youth service as well as teacher training workshops and community programs. More information and a full schedule at www.lakenormanjc.org.
The Institute of Southern Jewish Life is dedicated to providing educational and rabbinic services to small, southern Jewish communities, documenting and preserving the rich history of the Southern Jewish experience, and promoting a Jewish cultural presence throughout a thirteen state region.
The Lake Norman Jewish Congregation welcomes those interested in learning, worship and fellowship in an inclusive Jewish environment. Its goal is to promote a sense of belonging and acceptance within the congregation as well as the community at large by creating a place for spiritual growth while fostering Jewish tradition, education and culture.
