Davidson College basketball coach Bob McKillop has named former Wildcats Matt McKillop ‘06 and Terrell Ivory ‘04 to his coaching staff. Matt McKillop will serve as an assistant coach, and Ivory has been named the director of operations.

“We welcome two coaches who have Division I playing experience, professional playing experience along with coaching experience,” Bob McKillop said. “Of greater importance is that they wear Davidson on their hearts. They were captains, and they were leaders who embodied the values and principles that are the foundation of our program. The connection to the Davidson history that ties our program together will be further enhanced by their presence.”

Matt McKillop, who is Coach McKillop’s son, was an assistant coach last season at Emory University. As a Wildcat, he earned four varsity letters (2003-2006), served as team captain as a senior, and started 98 of his 117 career games. The Cats won three Southern Conference South Division crowns and a conference tournament championship in 2006.

He was on teams that competed in the 2006 NCAA Tournament and the 2005 NIT, finishing his career with 955 points, 241 rebounds, 213 assists and 223 3-pointers, which ranks third on the school’s all-time list. Following his collegiate career, Mr. McKillop traveled overseas where he played for the USK Praha Basketball Club in the Czech Republic.

Mr. Ivory returns to Davidson from Blair Academy in New Jersey, where he spent the three years as an assistant coach. He lettered four years, 2000-2004, playing in 67 games. He helped lead the Cats to a conference tournament appearance and an NCAA?tournament appearance in 2002 before going on to a professional career in England.

“Terrell is a terrific teacher of the game having played under an excellent coach in Bob McKillop,” said Blair Academy coach Joe Mantegna. “He is fantastic at interacting with players of various backgrounds and playing experience.”
