The StarDusters Big Band comes to the Village Green Sunday from 6-8 p.m. for the latest in the summer Concerts on the Green series organized by Downtown Davidson Inc. Meanwhile,
the week’s events in and around Davidson also include Beth Shalom of Lake Norman’s first monthly Shabbaton events in its new home, at St. Albans Episcopal Church, beginning with a Hawaiian Shirt Night service Friday night. Also: A noon kids movie today at the library, an overnight reading lockdown for teens at the library Friday, and bluegrass with Dry Fork Ramblers, at Cornelius Presbyterian Church Saturday.

MONDAY, JULY 28, 3 and 5 p.m., McEver Fields, South Street – Pony-13 East Zone baseball tournament continues with second-round games. Davidson-Cornelius All Stars and Hagerstown, Md., winners of first-round games, meet at 3. New Bedford plays CBC Richmond, Va., at 5. The tournament winner plays at 1 p.m. Tuesday for a chance to go to the World Series in California beginning Aug. 1.
TUESDAY, JULY 29, 7 p.m., Davidson College Duke Family Performance Hall – Davidson College Freedom School summer program will stage a finale event, where students will share with family, friends and the community what they’ve been learning this summer. Subjects range from African American history to health care policy to financial literacy. The program is part of the Children’s Defense Fund’s Freedom Schools project. The Davidson program serves children in primary and secondary schools.
